The False Profit Manifesto

Like most of you, we are not blind to the world’s problems. Primary among these is the trend towards ever-increasing Material Consumption. Given Finite Resources, it is only a matter of time before these Resources are Exhausted.

Our Economy is set up so Corporations can use Money to make more Money. A Company’s Value is measured not in what it Produces, and not even by its Profit, but in how much MORE Profit it Produces than it did last year. Investments now are made in Growth.

If you have a Bank Account, you Participate in this system. Your savings account may offer a 3% return, your checking account may offer 1%. Maybe you get no interest on your Money, but rest assured the Bank uses your Money to make more Money.

Investors have a stake in how a Company operates. When they purchase shares of a Company, they get a say in what the Company does with their Money. Since they are driven by a desire to make their Money into More Money, they encourage the Company to Maximize its Profit. Often this occurs at the Expense of Society at large, as Companies evolve to become the best Profit Generating Entities they can be within the current legal structure, Cutting Corners here, Mistreating People there.

We believe that at the heart of the problem lies the “Profit Motive”. This is the Belief that more Money is better than less Money, that it is rational to always want More.

Often More is better. We believe People should always strive for More: More Happiness, More Free Time, More Joyful Experiences, More Love, More Sense of Meaning.

We don’t believe more Money is always Better.

Companies exist so that Investors can make a Profit.

Until now, this Profit was measured only in Money.

We believe it should be otherwise.

We believe the Measure of Money is in its Use.

We have established False Profit, LLC to test the Truth of this Belief.

We are more than a Company. We are a Community. We are Individuals who have chosen to live and work together in a Shared Environment because we believe what we can accomplish Individually is nothing compared to what we can accomplish Together.

We believe this is what a Company ought to be.

We believe companies fall into bad practices when they separate Business Relationships from Personal Relationships. This allows them to act unethically and then dismiss these actions as “nothing personal” and “just business”.

We believe it is never “just business”. People come first.

We want to eliminate the difference between the Company and the Community.

False Profit strives to successfully transform Time, Energy, and Money into Positive, Meaningful, Lasting Experiences. We are Building a Community. We want to have Fun.

We see ourselves as Alchemists.

We are seeking People who want to Invest their Time, Energy, or Money into False Profit with the aim of seeing those put to Good Use. We Guarantee Zero Percent Financial Return.

We believe that everyone who attends our events is already an Investor, in the Truest sense of the word. Most people invested three dollars and a few hours of their Time. Some had been here before, helping us Build and Plan. Some of us Live here. All of us, together, are a part of False Profit. Everyone belongs.

We will to continue to have Parties with Beautiful Music and Dancing and Celebrating. We will have Art Exhibitions and Fashion Shows. We will produce Plays and have Film Screenings. We will have Intriguing Dinner Parties with Special Guests. We will see how long it takes for Kevin Bacon to show up.
