DJs and Producers
benchun
After learning to swim at a young age, benchun has always loved water. In the late 1990s he underwent residential treatment for some problems with progressive trance, but claims to be completely clean today. Despite a large vinyl collection, he is no longer a purist for analog — the power of laptop mashups and remixes became too much to resist. Download benchun’s music.
Dr. Toast
In addition to being the world’s foremost authority on toast, Dr. Toast also composes downtempo electronic music. Think head-nodding beats and somniferous melodic textures, plus bass explorations of nearby planets. The term “slamming midtempo” has been used. Download Dr. Toast’s music.
Alxndr
Alxndr likes unicorns, bubble-stickers and fireflies. His favorite quote is, “Only time will tell if we stand the test of time.” If he had a puppy he’d name it Sergio. He likes long walks on the beach and longer walks in the mountains. In the inevitable coming battle between man and machine he will stand by your side until the bitter end. Basically, it comes down to this: whichever way the beat drops our bodies will go, so swing it over here Mr. DJ, and we will, we will rock you. Download Alxndr’s mixes.
halon
Obsessed with the unreal, halon often finds himself involved with groups that use such terms in their name, such as False Profit and Fake Science. He embraces his “Gemini-ness” and leverages his twin energy to focus on two different styles of music: bumping electro-house and laid back downtempo. Recently unshackled from carrying 50 pounds of vinyl (and a long hiatus in Oakland) he can be found at a sound system near you. Download halon’s mixes.
DJJD
DJJD’s first experiments in sound began in childhood, sampling static’s crackle into his SK-8 with a bare wire on the warm TV screen, and methodically dismantling a huge console speaker to find out exactly what was making all the sound. Of course, some answers only lead to more questions… Download DJJD’s mixes.
Obi-J
Obj-J is a legend in his own time. Originally gaining fame as a member of the Las Vegas band TAPESTRY, he now regularly holds down dancefloors around the world. Download Obi-J’s mixes.
Tinker
Sara Kremer (aka Tinker) has been producing original beats out of San Francisco since 2003 and has recently whet the appetites of the West coast music scene, by adding her tasty tinkerings to the roster of various parties and festivals. Using Ableton Live and recording and transforming original sound samples from her travels, her sound is beat driven, down to mid-tempo, experimental, glitchy, melodic, and above all tinkery! Along with performing her original tracks live, she enjoys DJing melodic downtempo, dubstep and glitchy mid-tempo breaks, as well as other transcendental sonic delights. Download Tinker’s mixes.
